Colombia can be divided into two areas. You can find the Andes peaks in the west and the coastal area and great plains in the east. The peaks of the Andes rise above 5000 metres. The eastern lowlands consist of tropical jungle and savannas.
Due to Colombia’s diversity in landscape and vegetation, the animal world is very rich. The vast jungle is home to numerous species of birds, including toucans and parrots. It is also home to various monkeys and tapirs. In the Andes, bears can be found.
