Japan group tours

Join Shoestring for one of our Japan group tours. A group tour of the ‘land of the rising sun’ is varied and full of contrasts. You’ll get to know a civilization where tradition and modern technology go hand in hand.

The city of Tokyo mostly consists of modern buildings as a strong earthquake in 1923 and the bomb attacks of WW2 left few of the older buildings standing.

Present day Tokyo is full of contrasts: you’ll find the rustic Nezu quarter next to the skyscrapers of Shinjuku and the trendy Harajuku where rebelliously dressed young people make for a rather strange atmosphere on the streets.

Your group travels will also take you to Kyoto where you’ll discover the Golden Temple and Ryoan-ji. The Ryoan-ji temple is famous for its zen-gardens where the monks sit and meditate. Gion is the place for nightlife in Kyoto where you’ll probably meet giggling student-geishas in their typical kimonos and white faces.

During your group tour of Japan you’ll also visit the Kibi plain and bike along many rice fields, rivers, round tomb hills and interesting sacred places. The landscape of Sandankyo invites you to walk through impressive rock formations with steep walls.

The diverse Japanese culture has European, North-American and Asian influences. The group tours of Japan will introduce you to the country’s delicious cuisine and the unbelievably hospitable population. Are you ready to sample the atmosphere in Japan for yourself? Then Join one of Shoestring’s Japan group tours!
