Guatemala has a population of about 13,8 million. About 59% of the population is Ladino, also called Mestizo and European (mixed Amerindian and Spanish). Whites are a much smaller community (>1%), primarily of Spanish, but also those of Italian, German, British and Scandinavian descent. Amerindian are indigenous people and include the K'iche' 9.1%, Kaqchikel 8.4%, Mam 7.9% and Q'eqchi 6.3%. 8.6% of the population is made up of "other Mayan groups," while 0.4% is indigenous non-Mayan, making the indigenous community in Guatemala totalling about 40.5% of the whole population.
