Weather and climate Russia

Baltic States + Russia: European Russia knows cold winters from November to March and warm summers. The in-between seasons are very short. St. Petersburg has an average number of 126 raining days per year! St. Petersburg is located in the north of Russia and this is responsible for the ‘’white nights’’ (the period when it is not totally dark at night).

Best time to travel to the Baltic States and Russia
The legendary ‘’white nights’’ is the most beautiful period to visit St. Petersburg. The summers in Russia are pleasant with temperatures up to 25 degrees. It is due to the location in the north that the days are very long during the summer. In June the sun barely disappears and in August, at 10:30 pm it is still not dark. In the winters it can be very cold with temperatures far below zero Celsius degrees; in January even -10 Celsius degrees.

Climate table
The data in the table are from left to right: the average maximum temperature in Celsius degrees, the average minimum temperature in Celsius degrees, the precipitation per month rounded in millimeters and the number of sun hours per day (if applicable).
