In Tanzania, you have three religions that clearly leave their mark on the religion in the country. The most widespread at present is Islam, 35% of the population are Islamic. The majority of the Muslim population lives in the coastal areas and islands of Zanzibar and Pemba. Just as in Kenya, there is a spread of Christianity, more than 40% of the population is involved. Christianity is divided between Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Anglican and Orthodox. Hinduism is espoused by 20% of the population. Due to the fact that many tribes practice their own religions, worship their own gods and their own religious rites and customs there has been much confusion surrounding religious experiences.
