Madagascar in short

Ring-tailed lemurs and indris - Trip for singles

Book From   € 899,-
GROUP SIZE: 8-18 | 15 DAYS

Madagascar in short

Step into the fascinating world of lemurs, chameleons, baobabs and carnivorous plants! Madagascar, with its warm people, is often described as a mix of the intense colours of Africa and the mysteries of Asia. With unprecedented plant and animal life, it is like a continent in itself. A number of species, including the endearing indri, can only be found living naturally in Madagascar. Isalo N.P. is dominated by narrow ravines and rocks carved by the elements. The beautifully situated Ranomafana is one of the most pleasant places in the country. Ifaty is ideal for relaxation, where you can rent a boat and snorkel at the reef.

Antananarivo

Antananarivo

The capital is divided into three different levels, that are connected by stairs full of pedestrians and stalls. The city is build on 12 historical hills of the Imerian. In the middle of the city you can find the Lac Anosy, a huge lake with many great white herons.

Ambositra

Ambositra

Ambositra, famous for its carving and furniture industry. Its name means 'the place of the eunuch'. Named after the Merina who, at the unification of Madagascar, beat the local tribe, the Zafimaniry, and castrated the losers. The cultural influence of this tribe can be found in the traditional motifs of the local houses with their complicated design in terraces, panels and holds.

Ambalavao

Ambalavao

Ambalavao is famous for its paper production that follows an old tradition and is hand made. This process reminds us of the Arab influences that this island has known. This lovely city is situated to the South of Fianarantsoa. Here, the temperature is much higher because you've left the highlands behind you.

Isalo Nationaal Park

Isalo Nationaal Park

The park of 81.540 hectares lays in the Isalo- massif, an impressive mountain range consisting of bizarrely eroded sandstone formations. The sandstone carved by wind and rain is alternated by grassy plains. This landscape of the ‘Wild West’ on a height of 514 and 1270 metres invites you to fantastic hike.

Ifaty

Ranomafana N.P

Antsirabe

Antsirabe

Antsirabe, the third biggest city in Madagascar. Thanks to the great height (ca 1.500 metres) the temperatures are cool and even cold in the winter. This climate was probably the reason why the Norwegian chose this place to settle down in 1872. Antsirabe means ´where the salt is´, in honour of the many hot springs present that have given the city its nickname ´Malagassy Vichy´.

Andasibe

Andasibe

Andasibe is the starting point for a visit of the Réserve Spéciale d'Analamazaotra. Better known by its French name of the nearby city and train station, Périnet. This is the territory of the black and white Indri Indri, the biggest of all half-and half apes, that can reach a maximum height of one meter.
