Kathmandu - temples and stupas

The city tour of Kathmandu takes you to the most famous places of the city. You visit Swayambunath (Monkey Temple), the stupa in Bodnath and Pashupatinath, on the river Bagmati (the holiest place for the Nepalese Hindus). The sister city of Kathmandu, Patan, is fused to the capital and the old part of the city has an even greater density of temples and monasteries. Patan (locally known as Lalitpur) is much quieter than Kathmandu and a respite from the bustle of the city. You visit the Patan Durbar Square with its many temples. Entrance fees are not included in this excursion. The listed price is for a minimum of 5 participants; with fewer participants a supplement will be asked.

Lhasa - Ganden Monastery (transfers only)

The Ganden monastery was founded in 1409 by Zongkapa and is one of the most spectacular places of Tibet. It lies at an altitude of 4500 meters and sits 63 kilometers east of Lhasa. The monastery is the birthplace of the Gelugpa sect and was almost entirely destroyed at the beginning of the Cultural Revolution. It is currently undergoing intensive restoration. In Ganden printing house you can visit the place Tibetan prayer books are printed by hand. You may choose to follow a group of pilgrims and walk with them along the pilgrims tour (Korla). This is a good idea because the view over the Kyichu valley and the distant snowy mountains is very special. The entrance fee (about 45 yuan, with prices subject to change) is not included.
