The currency of Uzbekistan is the Uzbekistan Sum (UZS). This currency has notes of 1000, 500, 200, 100 and 50 Sum. The Tyin is the equivalent of the penny. 1 euro equals 2900 UZS (October 2013). The largest banknote is Sum 1000 and is not worth more than 40 cents. At banks, exchange offices and major hotels it’s possible to change $ USD. To change more than $ 50 in high season can be a problem.
