If you decide to join one of our Cambodia tours then you are guaranteed a fascinating and wonderful trip. Cambodia is a kingdom in Southeast Asia and along with Vietnam and Laos, formed part of the so-called Indochina. Cambodia has an area of 180,000 km2, the smallest of the three countries, but still nearly five times as large as the Netherlands for example. The fascination of Cambodia is wrapped up in its rich history and impressive buildings. The beauty of the country lies in the rainforests and mangroves, beautiful beaches, rivers and lakes and the considerable elevation that you’ll be taken to during your Cambodia travels.
The Hindu temple of Angkor Wat is one of the architectural wonders of the world. It is the largest multi-floored temple in mainland Southeast Asia and the atmosphere is almost magical! While on a tour in Cambodia you will encounter the equally impressive Killing Fields. Choeung Ek was one of the many killing fields in Cambodia. These ‘fields of death’ date from the time of the Khmer Rouge, the military wing of the Communist Party which was in power between 1975 and 1979. Within this relatively short period, almost 2 million people and children were cruelly put to death. Obviously, this reign of terror ensured that the number of tourists deciding to visit decreased considerably. Tourism in Cambodia picked up in the nineties when more and more people begun to travel in Cambodia. The friendly population happily receives tourists with open arms and the impressive culture and beautiful nature of the country make a trip through Cambodia simply unforgettable!
The majority of the population speaks Khmer but in tourist areas you can often get by ok with English. During your travels in Cambodia see different markets, mosques, temples and museums. The hustle and bustle of the city contrasts with the tranquility that the more rustic places provide, where you can enjoy the glorious sunshine in peace.
Experience the versatility of this beautiful country during one of our wonderfully varied Cambodia tours!
